Proposed Development at Callington Road, Tavistock
Bovis Homes and Kilbride delighted by planning approval
Bovis Homes Limited and Kilbride Holdings are delighted that the Planning and Licensing Committee has voted to approve planning permission for up to 750 dwellings and associated development at Callington Road, Tavistock.
The application, which was submitted in 2013, follows the allocation of the site by the Council in the new development plan for West Devon. The proposals will provide new market and affordable housing for years to come as well as facilitating the delivery of a new primary school site; local convenience store; significant public open space and ecological enhancement areas; along with other associated development.
It is anticipated that planning permission will be issued shortly following the completion of a Section 106 legal agreement. This will secure the delivery of the comprehensive package of community and planning benefits including financial contributions towards the reinstatement of the Bere Alston to Tavistock rail line.
Nevin Holden of Bovis Homes confirmed that:
‘Today’s decision represents a very exciting milestone in the lifetime of the project following many years of hard work and negotiation. As well as providing future homes in Tavistock, we are delighted to be part of what promises to be a national blueprint for the delivery of new rail infrastructure. Our thanks go to Members of the Committee, Officers at West Devon Borough and Devon County Councils and all other interested parties who have supported these proposals. We look forward to progressing the next stage of the project and commencing development at the earliest opportunity.’
It is anticipated that development will commence in 2015 following the approval of the reserved matters.
